Founded in 1950 by Jean-Louis Domecq, the brand was born out of necessity: Domecq, a mechanic by trade, was dissatisfied with the available work lamps of his time and set out to design a model that was simple, robust, and highly adjustable.

The result was the Jieldé Standard lamp, now a design classic. Characterized by its articulated arms, 360° swiveling joints, and rugged metal construction, the lamp was engineered without wires passing through the joints — a revolutionary solution that increased safety and durability in demanding industrial settings.

Jieldé took its name from the founder’s initials, J.L.D., phonetically written. From the start, the lamps were manufactured in Lyon, France, where production continues today with the same attention to craftsmanship and mechanical excellence.
