Víctor Pérez-Porro

Víctor Pérez-Porro is a Barcelona painter specializing in geometric abstraction, with over 30 years of experience developing a body of work rooted in Op Art and kinetic art.

Born in Barcelona in 1960, where he continues to live and work, Pérez-Porro is recognized for paintings built from layered color compositions and rhythmic geometric patterns.

Víctor Pérez-Porro's geometric abstraction style is defined by a deliberately restrained visual vocabulary: sequential repetition, alternating vertical and horizontal color bands, and optical effects that recall the Op Art and kinetic art movements of the 1960s. Rather than depicting real landscapes or objects, his paintings construct imagined spaces defined purely by light, color, and form — a signature approach that has defined his career as a contemporary Spanish geometric painter.

Over more than three decades, Víctor Pérez-Porro has held around twenty solo exhibitions and participated in a similar number of group exhibitions in Barcelona, Girona, Madrid, Lisbon, and Berlin. Notable solo shows include "L'habitació calidoscòpica" at Les Bernardes, Espai de Cultura Contemporània (2024), "Els colors de Berlín van fer formes en el meu cap" at Fundació Vila Casas' Espai Volart (2012), and "Seg-Mentos" at CEART, Centro de Arte Tomás y Valiente in Madrid (2007).
His paintings are held in public and private art collections including Fundació La Caixa, Fundació Vila Casas, Banc Sabadell, and the Academia de España in Rome, where he held a residency early in his career. He has also exhibited at international art fairs such as ARCO Madrid and the Foire Internationale d'Art Contemporain.

As a Barcelona-based abstract painter, Víctor Pérez-Porro continues to develop his geometric abstraction practice today, exploring the fundamental elements of painting — form, texture, and color — in a body of work that remains active more than 30 years into his career.
